HOW WE WORK TO BE SUSTAINABLE

At Desquite, we have a clear commitment to the environment and our community, which is why we are aware of the impact we generate with each of our actions.

Our priority is to take care of our community, the surrounding mountains, and its rivers, as these are the essential elements that give rise to Desquite. These are some of our most meaningful everyday actions:

By having our organic sugar cane plantation on our own estate, right next to the distillery, we shorten the journeys to transport the cane to the sugar mill, avoiding the use of fossil fuels, reducing the carbon footprint, and CO2 emissions.

The leftover cane pulp from the sugar cane milling is used as fuel to produce cane honey and is also utilized as fertilizer for cultivation. Our process is circular, generating less waste and giving back to the land what it provides us.

We protect the forest around the river to conserve its shade and reduce evaporation from heat.

For cooling down our processes, we use the water that comes down from the river to pass through our fermenters, reducing the use of chillers and electricity. The water is then sent to a pool to be cooled down again to ambient temperature before going back into the river.

Our promotional material is printed on sugar cane paper.

We only employ people from our region to promote economic activity in the area.

We avoid one time use of plastics, and only do so when legislation obligates us to seal our products.

Help us think about how we can contribute to protecting our planet.
